Technical Description
Strong Acid Cation Exchanger
Water is passed to the Cation unit. The unit comprise of pressure vessel filled with strongly acidic cation resins. Water is passed through a strong acid cation exchanger for decationising the water (i.e. removal of calcium, magnesium and sodium) by exchange with H+ ions on the resin thus resin.. The resin is regenerated with dilute acid in counter-flow mode to obtain low sodium residual consistently.
Degasser System
The water is then passed to the degasser tower. The degassed tower is a packed column where water sprayed from top of the packing, meets with a counter current of air supplied by degasser fans. In the scrubbing action carbonic acid being a weak acid, is broken up into water and carbon Dioxide. The air containing liberated carbon dioxide is vented and degassed water is collected in the degassed water tank
Strong Base Anion Exchanger
From Degasser Tank, the water passes through strong base anion unit which consists of a bed of the strong base anion exchange resin i.e. INDION FFIP. It is particularly use in a deionising plant for removal of EMA, Alkalinity Slip and silica. The anions in the water are exchanged with Hydroxyl ions ( OH -) available on the resin. The water is thus deionised. The resin is regenerated with dilute caustic soda solution.
Mixed Bed Unit
The treated water from DM plant will have a conductivity of around 10 - 30 Micro siemens. In order to arrest this slippage we offer a polishing unit (MB unit), which is a single column unit consist of a mixed bed of Cations and Anions resins. The water from the DM unit is taken to the MB unit and the MB unit will deliver water of < 1.0 µS conductivity at a pH of 6.8 to 7.2 and silica as sio2 < 0.02 ppm
